Jones, who recently ran a hand-held, 4.41-second 40 at the New Jersey speed school he has been attending, hopes to be clocked in the 4.4-, 4.5-second range.

Jones, from Arkansas, ran the fastest time ever by a quarterback at the N.F.L. combine, unofficially clocked at 4.41 seconds in the 40-yard dash.
Mathis, a receiver, turned in the fastest time this year at the combine in Indianapolis with an unofficial 4.32. But Bill Parcells and Gil Brandt, two veterans of the combine, said he was officially clocked at 4.25 - faster than Deion Sanders.
