Quarterback, wide receiver or tight end? How about all three? That's the uncertainty that still surrounds the 6-foot-6, 242-pound Jones as he auditions for NFL owners, general managers, coaches and scouts at the combine this weekend.

Jones, who recently ran a hand-held, 4.41-second 40 at the New Jersey speed school he has been attending, hopes to be clocked in the 4.4-, 4.5-second range.

att Jones and Jerome Mathis turned heads yesterday with their speed. Mike Williams did the same just by working out. Jones, from Arkansas, ran the fastest time ever by a quarterback at the N.F.L. combine, unofficially clocked at 4.41 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

Mathis, a receiver, turned in the fastest time this year at the combine in Indianapolis with an unofficial 4.32. But Bill Parcells and Gil Brandt, two veterans of the combine, said he was officially clocked at 4.25 - faster than Deion Sanders.

He said that Jones will probably be a WR. They love big WR's in the NFL.

He seems to me to have perfect tight end size. OLB? He is more potent on the offensive side of the field IMHO.

I watched 1 1/2 games of Arkansas's this year and he seems to be pretty laid back and apparently he was at the combine too so maybe TE isn't the best spot for him.
