Agents
My agent has retired (or possibly escaped to another country). Anyone here have a good agent to recommend?

1. (Or possibly escaped to another country)
Begs the question.

How much did he/she take you for?

3. Oh.
In searching Google for agents it seems some of them are rip off agents. A little money up front and they will help get you published sort of thing. And like "Poof" they are gone.

I thought perhaps you had that experience.

7. Association of Authors Representatives
Google Association of Authors Representatives. It's a voluntary organization of agents who conform to a system of ethics. It doesn't guarantee the person will be able to sell your work, but you can feel pretty sure they won't rip you off.

9. Two questions: 1.) Does your agent handle fiction? 2) Is he/she
currently taking/seeking new clients?

Thanks!:hi:

10. Two answers
Yes and no.

Sorry. I wish I could lend a hand, but they get over 10,000 unsolicited mss. a year, so they've pretty much sealed themselves inside the stable.

Finding a good agent is much harder than writing the novel, isn't it?

Best of luck to you. Keep plugging.

11. Another (sometimes) useful agent-related link...
A discussion board, WritersNet.
http://www.writers.net/forum/10C1
I found it useful asking about posters' personal
experiences with specific agents, but as with all things
internet, you have to sort the wheat from the BS...
