In fact if it had been a horse race instead of a 'Best Book' contest I would have been an 'Also Ran'.

Now I will have to cancel all my plans based on the $3,000 (U.S.) that I was going to win.

Even worse I feel so rejected I might never ever write a story again or a poem again either.

Until tomorrow maybe.

Sigh. Damn the agony of defeat.

I sure be glad I do not have to write for a living.

I had lotta experience with Alligators out in the creeks rivers and ditches in the Santee Delta area of South Carolina when I was a 'Crabber' and all around waterman.

My book was/is about some of that. 'Voyages of the Vicky Mary'. Vicky Mary was a hydraulic clam dredge by design. I shrimped with her in season also.
