Gotta brag -- my wife's new book
Why I'm Glad I Had Breast Cancer. Just became available from the publisher.

She took the beautiful picture they used for the cover, but I applied my magnificent skills with a computer mouse and cropped it juuuust right.

Details -- and the beautiful cover -- at http://www.dvorkin.com/brcan.

I do believe this will be my thousandth DU post. I'm very happy to make it this one.

2. Congratulations!
I have a friend who had a mastectomy yesterday. This might be what she needs to read.

4. Congratulations to you and your wife...
How exciting that she is published!

How cool is it for someone to turn a very challenging life event into a book that can help and comfort others.

You obviously married a courageous, sensitive and very talented woman.

Great cropping on the photo--she is beautiful! She looks very happy.

:)

5. Your wife is gorgeous. What a smile!
Congratulations to the both of you. I'm going to bookmark the web site for printing later, and then take the info to our local bookstores. Summer is coming, this is a tourist town with a lot of visitors from all over, and I would like to see this get more exposure.

Incredible photo, too.

7. Congratulations to you and your wife David!
What a wonderful and courageous way to help those in the same situation!
I know from family members who have been through certain major health threats (such as cancer) finding someone else's experience in a book can lend the extra hand to help them along the way, that no one else can.

:toast: to you and your wife!

8. Thanks, rockedthevoteinMA
I know she'd feel great if the book did help others.

I've known a few people who've survived life-threatening illnessess -- cancer, heart attacks -- and practically no one goes through such an experience without subsequent major reevaluation of their life. I do know one exception, though.

12. Update
The book was originally scheduled to be published in May. However, the publisher moved offices and everything was delayed, and the book is now scheduled for July.

14. After long delays . . .
It's finally a real book. It's now on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc.

We ordered copies directly from the publisher a couple of days ago, and I got an automated e-mail yesterday saying it had been shipped.

15. Great Work, David. Excellent cropping, an arresting title, and a pithy
pitch. If the text is as skilfully done, you've got a fine book!
Bravo!

17. Thanks.
Leonore gets interesting reactions to the title. A few people are repelled by it, but most are intrigued.

No sales rank yet on Amazon or Barnes & Noble, but we were away for the weekend and she hasn't started telling people it's available yet. So I'm holding my breath and hoping. All else aside, I really want to see her have a successful book.
