Looking for Writers of Leftist Political Satire
Greetings, all.

We've recently launched a website that consists largely of political satire with a strong, though not explicitly stated, left-wing agenda. The site offers "fake news" from the future - anything from the next few weeks up to the next 500 years.

We're looking for individuals with strong writing skills who may be interested in working with us by submitting well-written, carefully researched, at least marginally plausible satirical news reports in a wide range of topic areas.

As the site is in its infancy, there could be no payment involved, but we will shortly have a masthead up which can contain a link to the chosen sites of our contributors. We plan (well, hope) to build this up into a reasonably major enterprise in the coming months and years and decades and centuries.

Have a look, and if you have any interest in joining us use the contact form on the site to get in touch. We'd also welcome any feedback on the site. Funny/not funny? Well-executed/hack job? We'd like to know.

1. I bookmarked your site.
Looks to me like you're off to a good start. The titles gave me a chuckle. Will check them out later when I have more time. Keep up the good work, and welcome to DU!

Best wishes.

2. Glad to hear it!
Thanks for the feedback and the welcome, classof56.

I was an active lurker at DU in the period leading up the the Travesty of November 2004, but have been a little too glum since then to participate. Now I'm looking forward to the great Mid-Term Renaissance of November 2006.

All the best.

5. A few editorial guidelines
Edited on Sat Aug-27-05 01:30 AM by bustarbusto
Thanks, Geoff. Topic areas are wide open. Here's a snippet from our draft editorial guidelines:

The basic premise is that articles cover events taking place from the immediate future up to about 500 years ahead. Persons, places, etc. can be real, imaginary, or some combination of the two.

Subject matter can be precisely anything. In addition to the broad topic areas of the site, one can write book, movie, music and video game (or whatever future game technologies may develop) reviews, obituaries, editorials and letters to the editor (that section will be up as soon as we have a couple), style & real estate reports, consumer advice, you name it.

The style should be deadpan journalistic. We're aiming for something reminiscent of what one might read in the New York Times or the Washington Post. Viewpoint should be neutral.

Articles are meant to be funny, scary, thought-provoking, or any combination thereof. Other than that, the field is wide open.
