Crit group?
Someone mentioned this earlier, but I was wondering in people were interested in a crit group? I was thinking of about 4 or 5 people, preferably spec fic writers, with a crit a week. It could be done in email, and we could use the forum for administrative tasks and to keep track of what was going on.

People would have to be able to give crits usefully wihtou being personal, and would have to abide by the general crit rules. Anyone interested could either pm me or reply here.

3. Well
I was thinking a piece on a rotating basis, wth a new piece form someone every week, so the novel length stuff would have to be done piecemeil.

8. questions
I just joined critique circle and it is quite complex. any way to keep this simple?
what do you mean by "spec fiction?"
If you don't get enough people here, could this be posted elsewhere on DU also?
Not relevent, but can anyone tell me why i don't have a face icon near my name (profile?)

9. Answers
1)I think it would b simple. Stories and or chapters are done on a rotating basis. Begining of the week, someone emails the story to the group, by the end of the week, everyone crits.

2)Shofrt for speculative fiction, a chesy name meant to encompnase all kinds of science fiction and fantasy. Its not a deal breaker for me, as I read and like all kids of genres, but I would hope that participants would be weilling to crit my sf pieces.

3)Not sure, to be honest. The total now is up to five, including me, so I think thats a good sized piece.

4)You have to add one yourself. I think its under the icon option under the profile menu.

10. spec fiction
I read a lot of that and would be glad to crit it, but I don't write it. In fact I'm wondering whether I should send you small sections of what i do write and see if I'll be a good fit for the group...if not you could get someone else.

13. am willing to read spec fiction
if the group is open to other kinds of fiction. I have read some recent spec fiction that I think has some interesting ideas going on. But my stuff is more based in reality, tho often surreal.

I say try and see how this goes--I suggest to keep it kind of loose. But I like the email send on Monday, everyone crits by Friday schedule.

On recommendation of someone here I went to http://www.critiquecircle.com and have been very satisfied with it. A little complicated, but worth it.
