Twice this month I received a check in the mail and copy of a publication with my writing in it. TWICE.

A year ago I wrote two little NF pieces and sent each of them off. I was at that point unpublished. Both got accepted immediately by the first places I sent them off to (newsletter Pediatrics for Parents and magazine Bird Watcher's Digest). Earlier in the month I got to see my first piece in print and got a check for $100. Today in the mail I got to see the other piece and received a $25 honorarium.

I'm batting 1.000. I guess I better get to doing some more writing!!!

You're obviously doing something right (write?). At this point I'll bet the pleasure of seeing your name in print is just as nice as the money, eh?

I once gave a paper at a professional conference and it got published in their Proceedings. Felt good to see my name in print (it even impressed my kids!). I'm currently working on a history of my family which I will self-publish for those few family members who care, and for the kids and grandkids who may find it interesting when they reach my age.

I hope you keep batting 1.000. Do you have any projects in work at the moment?

3. The editor of the medical newsletter wants me to submit more,

and I have ideas for three more articles. So I will have to get to work on them. I found it impossible to take my luck seriously this past year, until actually seeing my name in print. Should have been writing all along!
