Some notes on writing
Well the big novel is now at the PDF retailer waiting for approval.

It has been quite the slog. I do not remember writing this intensely since oh… my thesis some years back, I'd rather not say how many.

So here are some notes from writing the second novel in the Future Nexus Series.

1.- Get yourselves a good critique group and develop a thick skin. If the group had not gone through the book it would have been done earlier, but… here is the big but… it would not have been as good as it is going to be. Yes, their critiques, at times pointed, revealed that this piece of crap was exactly that. So with no further, 40K words into it, it got scrapped. Do not be afraid of doing that.

2.- I have always been the kind of person who seats down, and just lets them characters take me where they want to go… well folks I hate to say it, time crunch and all, I had to actually outline this sucker… and again it is a far better book for it. I also chose the Hero's Journey for it.

3.- On editing: Well, been trying to save them trees, yep I am a tree hugger, guilty as charged. But… you knew that was coming right? In order to get this one right, I had to print every chapter, and literally go through it three times. Here was the method to this madness.

Print
Line Edit
Add Editing notes.
Remove text that is not working… if need be scrap a chapter and rewrite it… yes at times it felt that way.
Make sure the scene did what it was supposed to do.
Repeat as needed.

I did save some trees in the final galley; since I did the editing on the computer after blowing the text up by about oh 200%

The book will be available for sale soon. Oh and this novel is only going to be distributed through PDF… no, not trying to atone for my sins of paper wastage, but rather the fact that I cannot keep this competitive through LULU.

Oh and this is my break from coding the new company website…yep it is that time of the year when good boys and girls have to do some website cleaning… and get a face lift. Oh and it is far harder than it sounds. Once it is up, yes the Stellar Clarion, the game magazine, will FINALLY have submission guidelines, since I will finally be able to pay for some work… no, not professional rates, I hope next year that will be the case. But for the moment semi-pro helps, and no, not all of the mag is gaming related. Most of it is, but… you may be able to find a section you may want to contribute to.
