I'm thinking of changing career paths and going into publishing. If you work in the field, I'd love to talk to you and get an idea of whether this career might be appropriate for me. Thanks!

I'm a production manager for a small publishing company. There are an awful lot of variables in the industry, and much does depend on the niche you and your company occupy.

I would suggest starting to read back issues of Publisher's Weekly to get an overview of the current state of the industry and the genres.

PS Unless you're near the top, the pay isn't great!
