So while I was in Mexico City I found a whole new market
that is science fiction and fantasy in Spanish

So here I am, plodding away at the first fantasy story I have written in Spanish in literally decades

You'd think that this being my native language, in theory it should be easier. Things could not be father from the truth. Getting 213 words down have been like painful. Oh and another thing... thank god for Word... my spelling and grammar are oh so rusty, it is not even funny.

Going for the fantastic realism so common in the region, and still popular. But I never thought it would be so hard to WRITE once again in the language I first learned.

So if you have another language... search for potential markets, you'd be surprised what you will find

On a funny note, I think my writer's group would have a literal cow with this.

two reasons

1.- I find I am using a tense that is extremely formal and rarely used (damn Pan's Labyrinth)

2.- They are English speakers only

1. My brain hurts
reading that! :D

Only because I should think it would be double challenging to come up with Sci Fi words that sound real in another language, like "warp drive."

But my, what an interesting challenge you have set! :D

for the moment sticking to the fantastic realism that does not need techie language...

Ah yes Francisco Quíroga is oh so much fun

:-)

the true challenge is ... swithing my keyboard to spanish and learning a whole new layout
