So full of surprises too. Far from being a vamp who'd "been on many a picnic" (as a highlander gently commented regarding a girl who'd ben round the block a few times), before her romance with Bogie, she was as pure as the driven snow - though her character seems to have remained beautifully innocent in the less narrow sense, throughout her life. With her warm and vivacious personality, as well as her looks, how many lovelorn young men's hearts she must have broken in her younger days.
