Tiddlywikki... this is a tool I have used on and off for years
(and now the problem I had was corrected... I don't save multiple versions of this now)

This is a non-linear notebook, that you can use on multiple OSs... and trust me I have tested this many a times. Between the Win, the Mac and the cheap Linux machine, well there you have it

Oh and as a writer I find these tools to be VERY GOOD

1. I like the tiddlywikifiction examples
And the potential for using it as a website starting point.

But I'm the kind who feels more creative with pen in hand. If I had a Blackberry or other phone with internet access, it might prove to be a great substitute for a PDA. At the moment, however, I'm not sure I'd get much out of using it for anything else.

What's your favorite use for it?

2. Well I thought it was going to work but the linux machine does not
want to run it, ironic I know

I use an EEEPC for a PDA these days.

As to what I used it for, a notebook

Now I managed to get Keynote to work under emulation on both the mac and the linux machine, using this now as my notebook

As I write the short story... approaching novella... I take notes on it.

Once I get this method down and about, will do that for the novels

Now if I could get Treepad to behave....

http://www.treepad.com/

I might end up installing XP on the Mac after all...

3. Well wonders never cease... don't know what I did, but it is now working on
both the mac and the linux box... will not tempt the gods and try it on Internet explorer

Ok, I know what I did, updated firefox on the EEPC... but it is working on both and keynote is great but has hiccups under crossover... though it works like a charm under WINE 1.0

Well one of my fav tools is tiddlywiki, which is a reusable notebook, and a portable wiki.

What is a wiki? A cross referenced notebook. If you have visited wikipedia, you've used a wiki

Now for those of you who are very technically adept you can download media wiki, and set your own wikipedia on your hardrive... which is quite the pain in the rear... trust me... been there, done that... not pretty. So if you don't want to undergo that pain... and have all your research on a portable means of transport... here is a perfect solution

Tiddlywiki is a fully portable wiki that you can transport on your thumbdrive... and use in any computer.. well almost

As a proud owner of a MAC... I KNOW it will not run on Safari... nor Camino, have not tried opera, but it does behave under Firefox (get the latest version... word to the wise... for many reasons)

It also runs on my Xandros based EEEPC 900 (word to the wise, LINUX version), but only after I updated Firefox... now that is another post, another day...

Now I know that at one time it behaved on Internet Explorer for those of you still living in a windows world... and I guess will have to see if it works on a windows machine one of these days....aka test it on the gaming machine... with the latest bells and whistles including vista and IE... ughh.

What do I use this for? SNOWFLAKE method, and I know, I also like KEYNOTE for that, but keynote does have issues under virtualization in the MAC (though it behaves like a charm under WINE 1.0 in the Linux box)

So decided to give this another whirl... and between transfering info and writing... it is perfect to get your novel data all in one file... heck, I may even leave the electronics at home and just take thumb drive when I go visiting the family... nah... or there is going to be a race for computer

YES I can do headings... and bold and all that

And yes, there are some set specifically for fiction...
