Tragedy. Tragedy is a thing that happens to people. Other people. Never to you. Tragedy happens to the couple down the street, losing a wanted newborn to SIDS, the quiet girl in your daughter's history class who made the wrong decision riding home--into a tree--with a drunken boyfriend. Tragedy is the murder of a child, heart attack of a 32 year old hockey player, overdose of an award winning actor...

And then, one day, you are there, calmly putting on make-up with your children playing outside. A phone rings and you answer. In that breath, that beat, that lifetime...one moment... Tragedy becomes you.

This is my story. My Tragedy. Shared by many and understood by none.

2. I understand

I'm trying to write a story based on a personal tragedy. It's not easy but can be done. I found it easier to write it as fiction myself.
