So, who's aboard? If it's not redundant, I'd like to know.

1. My dear nolabear!
I post over here now and then, especially when I have something erotic...

Anytime I post that sort of thing in the Lounge, it gets locked.

And I'm told that this forum is OK for those poems...

I'd love to have you comment on my poem!

Welcome to the Writing Group!

:hi:

3. Really? I posted a couple over in poems without much response.
Wrote a little something recently, but its beginning sounds too familiar.

Phoenix

The boy was blue so he grabbed his horn
And spun himself a tune, thus waken the mourn
Sad and slow it was, blown by the forlorn
The ghost of a child to a world yet reborn.

The rule of the law that governed his land
Became a commodity, then a national brand.
Forsake the meager to gain all for the grand.
A concept too consuming for a free public to withstand.

In the dewy dawn as his horn blows
He can’t learn what he already knows.
If the heart hears and the mind grows
That we choose to be wrong if it so rarely shows.

I suspect a piece of this may belong to someone else here at DU, if so, I'm compelled to offer credit though I don't remember who it might be to.

Hope all is well w/ you and yours Miss Peg.

2. I check in a lot!
Fiction was my first love. Spent 5 weeks playing hooky as a high school junior. I was in the library writing some masterpiece I'm now embarrassed to discuss in any detail. I've since taken to strange tales involving the likes of wish thieves and hatred pixie dust fairies. I tell myself the short pieces will make the tackling of larger stories easier once I get there. At 48, it gets harder and harder to accept the 'we'll see' mantra I live by in between parenting and domestic engineering. I come here in the hope of finding productive nudges.

That's my story thus far, and what brings you?

5. Hi, nolabear
Do you write? If so, what? Stories, poetry, articles, other?

I don't post much here anymore, but I read here a lot.

I haven't written anything for a few years, but lately, every time I view my onscreen TV guide, I find it impossible not to see listed on the infomercial channels, titles for short stories that need to be written. Invicta Watches is particularly intriguing. Invicta would be some kind of evil creature, who watches...

7. Hi all! Sorry I took so long to get back.
I'm having a week. Moving my office and going out of town tomorrow to celebrate my sister's birthday with a surprise party (she doesn't know I'm coming).

So, it's good to see the writers here. As for me, I am a poet, fiction writer and occasional essayist. I've had quite a bit of poetry published in literary magazines and anthologies, along with a few short stories and essays. I've finished a first novel and am in the earliest process of looking for representation or publication, and I'm hoping to begin a second one. The first is about the dilemma of assisted suicide when a terminally ill friend is asking for help (it's actually not grim, if you can believe that) and the one I want to begin is about the concept of sanctuary as shown in the various people who work at an animal sanctuary, and who are clearly in need of the same themselves.

It's good to know there are like minds on DU. I love politics, but the endless arguments make my head hurt after a while.
