Wisconsin state health website steers women toward faith-based pregnancy center
A new link to a crisis pregnancy center on Wisconsin.gov, Wisconsin's state website, has led several area advocates to accuse Gov. Scott Walker's administration of blurring the lines between church and state.

The link, found under the "Family Services" subsection of "Health and Safety," leads to Care Net, an evangelical anti-abortion group that runs some 1,100 crisis pregnancy centers throughout the nation, including the Elizabeth House on Madison's east side. According to Care Net's website, its ultimate aim "is to share the love and truth of Jesus Christ."

It also claims to be a place where "those struggling with past abortions are finding God's healing and forgiveness."

Annie Laurie Gaylor, executive director of the Madison-based Freedom from Religion Foundation, accuses Walker of mistaking his role as "pastor-in-chief."

2. Horrifying
Some MD friends of mine were discussing corollary issues related to the crisis pregnancy centers, namely, that because they're technically not healthcare facilities, they do not have to abide by patient privacy regulations. So theoretically they could send your name and address to a group like Operation Rescue, or sic the local fundamentalists on you.

3. My aunt didn't struggle when she was in her 80s and near death
She had an abortion (illegal in the 1940s) when she was a middle aged, married, grandmother. The condom broke and she and her husband didn't want more children at their ages. What she told back then (1980s) was, "You young woman are so fortunate to be able to get safe, legal, and cheap abortions with no questions asked." "Never let them take that right away from you."

I suppose these "regret your abortion" wouldn't like 80 year old women, and married ones at that, saying they didn't regret it.
