Poll question: cannabis smokers, what do you know about your smoke?
Any honest cannabis smoker will tell you, that over a lifetime, supplies
come from many different hands, and sometimes you've very little idea
what exactly you're smoking, where its from, or how it was raised.

Figure, lotsa people have tried grass, even if they don't actively
smoke it, and they should be able to recall exactly the origins of
this grass they tried, and what exactly it was they smoked.

This poll is an attempt to describe a scale of knowledge about what
kind of chemicals people are inhaling, from blind faith in the dealer,
to self-knowledge of what chemical fertilizers and pesticides were
used on the plants, and what was done during the curing process.

How well informed poeple are of what exactly the drug is they're taking?
I don't mean the metaphorical "cannabis", but the drug in your spliff,
your pipe, your bong, your vapourizer. Have you ever gotten a
bad headache from "burned" weed, and gotten frustrated at the health
quality of the weed you've smoked?

4. Everyone should grow their own
I just wish it was possible to grow only an ounce at a time, since it's now legal to have an ounce in Colorado. :smoke: :D

9. I don't want to make my own wine
If cannabis were available like wine is, i'd probably just buy a
little bud in a vacuum jar at the supermarket. As much as it might
be romantic to grow cannabis, it is like farming, requiring constant
watering and attention, as the plants are sensitive, mold, and other
problems can be quite difficult. I can't say that a home grower would
know how to keep down mold better than a commercial one, or more
organically.

In all honestly, the garden center does not exactly print "good for
cannabis" on the bottles of sprays and fertilizers, so a grower needs
to know what sprays are poisonous if the chemicals are later burned
on the bud. I wouldn't know that, and then so it seems that most
persons who might grow cannabis would be having to consider similarly
about how to control mold, water the plants, feed, repot, add chemicals
to, change the timers of, I wonder how many adults in our world today
have "NOT" seen a cannabis grow environment.

So frankly, i think the best is to have a close friend grow his/her
own, and keep you supplied. Then you don't have to do any of the
work, and you get to enjoy the knowledge of its purity.

Colorado sounds really cool, like i seemed to think that boulder was
like an island surrounded by rednecks, and maybe denver is in that
island as well.

23. i've peeked in on a few grows
it's not as difficult as you seem to think. there is the ocassional period of work, like cloning or harvesting, but maintaining a garden is really not much more than 5 minutes of watering every other day i've been told. no more work than watering the houseplants. mold is rarely an issue, the biggest problem is critters like spider mites, which can be taken care of organically. and many mom and pop garden centers will be more than happy to direct you to the organic section of the store, with a wink and a nod. they never ask you what you are growing, rather they just ask what problem you're having. the single biggest problem is detection by law enforcement, used to be you could get any info you wanted off the internet, but the feds and canadian officials have been popping more and more website's servers.

7. My question is why would someone
take some perfectly good pot and put opium in it? Wouldn't that make it cost more?

What I mean is what percentage of the pot smoking population would ever unknowing smoke pot that had opium on it?

.0001 per cent? or less?

Not very likely IMHO.

8. I think thailand curing
I've had opium weed... great stuff i might add. It was thai stick buds
cured with a sparkling of opium dust. I'm not suggesting frankly that
not knowing where your bud is from is a crime, rather, letting the facts
speak on how we regulate the cannabis market.

The laws don't regulate squat. Prohibition is a vote to have no
regulation whatsoever, and markets are dominated by buyer beware,
and the laws allow the market to be unknown.

As well, some laws have created a market for highly potent cannabis
that can be grown cheaply, not cannabis with sattiva highs, rather
bulk producing skunk, ak47, and the hybrids that allow for massive
commercial bud growing. Yet what if the less "dangerous" strains of
cannabis are not known by current studies, and the market, by selecting
bulk production, is not doing this either.

The thai stick that was opium sprinkled, was 1000 dollars an ounce in
los angeles in the early 80's...

10. Cannibus is a self regulating drug in terms of dosage. The stronger
the cannibus, the less people smoke.

I agree that the early flowering properties of indica, the flowers to leaf ratios, as well as it's generally shorter stature make indica a more logical choice for cultivation over sativa in a black market.

I prefer the more cerebral qualities of sativa over indica.

It is time to regulate the marijuaja market for many reasons.

11. Yes for so many reasons
1. stop the waste of money
2. stop the erosion of civil rights
3. stop the erosion of privacy
4. stop the violence subculture of illegal trade enforcement
5. stop the judgement and criminalization views on people who do drugs
6. stop the unknown and unlabelled substances that are trading in every
part of the country.
6. stop the war on drugs

stop

I would love, once before i die, for my country to be at peace with me,
to have made peace with cannabis smokers and accepted them as upstanding
persons like any person who has a drink, or maybe even one who's had too
many, but recovers like Kate Moss. ;-)

I feel the earth in my heart, the dark mother earth, and she wants
her children to be free to smoke any plants that grow on her.
She more than wants, has already granted this right to her creatures,
and only stupid puritains are foolish enough to believe their law has
any credibility as long as they outlaw a religion.

Freedom of religion has already given us sovereign right over our
choices in life, what to take in to our mouths, and we take this
wisdom for our internal wisdom, our internal "god", for whatever
a person's views might be, even a secular humanist makes sovereign
choices and believes in their right to free will. So the law is to
pervert free will, then what silly people did that?

There is a time and a place for a white widow, and a time and a place
for a kali mist. Would that all cannabis smokers had the options
in pure, labelled fresh grass.

13. Opiated Thai Stick - Myth?
I was in San Diego in the late 70s. That was where I first had "opiated" Thai Stick. The guy who got it said that it was dipped in opium. It did have a sticky, brown resin all over it, so I accepted his claim. After a one-hit coughing fit I was stoned for hours.

Decades later and after more experience and a lot of research, I discovered that the "official" way to make Thai Sticks was to dip the wrapped buds into hash oil. This was the brown resin I had seen. Not opium, but hash oil.

For those of you who have smoked hash, you know how incredibly powerful it can be. Now imagine Thai Stick with a 14% THC content after it's dipped into hash oil. Wow.

Typically it does not make sense to coat marijuana with another drug, generally because it's not cost-effective and namely because pot smokers aren't really interested in adulterated pot anyway.

I still wish some of that "opiated" Thai Stick was available. And I wish I was 30 years younger too. :)

16. I dunno about the past, but these days almost all opium is fake.
Edited on Sat Dec-24-05 10:53 PM by K-W
Generally people dont bother smuggling opium because it is more profitable to smuggle heroin.

Ive seen alot of 'opiated pot' and 'opium' but pretty much none of it involved actual opium.

Its such an easy scam as many pot users are very curious about smoking opium but don't know much about it and have never seen it. They just know that its black and smells like flowers, something very easily faked.

If I were to do this sort of thing I would get from a friend who himself gets from suppliers in his local market. My only garuntees would be that my friend tries to work with reliable people and tries it all first.

And that's the sad fact. However, if one wants ice or crack, no prob; it's everywhere... Marijuana prohibition is insanity.

20. Ups and downs
I have gotten where I know the grower and what goes in, have grown my own and at other times bought bag weed where I knew little more than it was subjected to a high pressure compression.

I prefer to grow my own so I know what goes into it, but that isn't feasable for me at this time. TRuly a sad state as I have no criminal record and aside from some minor drug use I am a citizen who doesn't break the laws.

Only thing in danger from me has been the contents of my fridge or the local carry out.
