Researchers discovered that chemicals from marijuana rejuvenate
an area of the brain linked with learning.

snip...

Researchers there at the University of Saskatchewan demonstrated that marijuana rejuvenates cells in the hippocampus, an area of the brain associated with learning and memory. Neuroscientist Xia Zhang and his team injected rats with a superpotent chemical synthesized to resemble a chemical found in a typical puff of pot. And, under the influence of this mega-marijuana, the rats started growing new brain cells.

7. I met the woman who was responsible for
the successful Montana Medical Marijuana initiative passed in Nov. 2004 by the voters and she told me about research that showed cannabis was effective at helping people who suffered from head trauma. She said it helps the brain heal.

This was about a year or so ago that she told me about that research, but I believe this is newer than that.

8. Most people seem to think of getting stoned
as an excuse to be a goof. But if you train your brain to operate in certain ways while stoned, it will, and will do it quite consistently. I made the honor role in college smoking nearly every day. And I didn't break a sweat doing it.

Back when I was heavily into the martial arts, I was told by several people that they'd rather spar me when I was straight than when I was stoned. I was actually quicker when I was stoned.

My whole series of books owes its existence, at least to some extent, to pot. The original ideas that spurred it came from the fifteen year period me and my buddies were designing and playtesting our own role-playing game. Stoned most of the time.

There's at least some evidence to suggest that a few major computer breakthroughs were made by a couple of stoner geeks in their garage.

I honestly think it's what you make of it. If you're willing to be passive and just drift, that's what will happen. If you're interested in stretching the boundaries of what you think is possible, it's good for that too.

9. yea totally, i like that
I haven't any experience of being "spaced out" whilst stoned, I have
the most exstatic visions, especially when listening to music, or making
love.

I think that in our modern culture, certain things are unnatural, and
have a radically ossifying effect on the human mind, these being the
7 day week, (living by the clock), identifyig ourselves by what is in
our wallet or purse, identifying ourselves with friends or past
experiences... and all of these are false illusions, that cannabis
sorta helps with the influence of. In the seense, that the stress of
what can be otherwise deadeningly harsh mechanichization of the human
soul, one can smoke a joint and become the firmament itself for an
age of time, and mortal life is not such a big deal.

And when they let you in to the cave of the himalayan yogi, you'll
sit down by a square fire pit with a smouldering log in it. And behind
this sits an old white bearded yogi, holding a chillum. You leave him
a finger of charras, and he passes you his chillum and his blessing.
You take a hit from his chillum and fall on your back, profoundly
moved at the earth's harmony, her subtle empty depths. And the yogi
smiles, cuz you got a good hit, westerner. :-)

10. Ive had similar experiences.
Although im my case its computer games and not martial arts. I consistantly score higher under the influence.

It seems that Pot helps me to be either creatively unrestrained, or to focus on a particular task.

Anything that involves learning something new or memory is a problem though.
