Thc and my brother
I just left a trial in which a truck driver was on trial for killing my brother. He came over a hill too fast, hit a car in front of him, turned hard left and hit my brother head on.he also hit 2 cars and 2 trucks in the opposite lanes(the one my bro was in).
The jury thought that because my brother had THC in his system he was at fault, even tho the others involved were clean and testified that there was NOTHING they could do to avoid the collision---
The driver will spend 5 days in jail.
My dear brother will remain dead.
RIP--- RSR--7/28/56------12/07/2004

my brothers widow got 1 million in a civil suite from the trucking company---the truck driver has nothing------ but my brother earned over $250,000 a year---and would have worked for 12 -15 more years. he was so non violent, and he stopped and removed turtles from the road
To keep his spirit alive,If you see a turtle on the road and you can stop and move him, he will remain with us.
He went to Amsterdam a few years ago and loved it. If you visit there lift a pipe and remember him.

14. I always stop and help a turtle.
We have some big ones here in Tennessee, I have helped a snapper back to his pond! If I see one in the road I always deposit it on the side it was headed towards. It seems like a simple and kind act for any human to do, the damn turtles don't know anything about crossing roads.
It sounds as if your brother and I would have agreed on a lot of things in life.
I have one word for you. APPEAL!!!!!!

3. That's just sick
I'm so sorry. Your brother was just a year older than me... that's way too young.

THC would put the big pharms out of business. That's the only reason it's illegal, I'm convinced. Alcohol is so much more destructive.

I feel your frustration, if not your pain.

4. Thats terrible,
and stupid as hell. Following that logic if I smoked a splif two weeks ago and a bank robber shot six people and killed only me, then he walks light.

9. Appeal
Juries are often composed of total idiots and that's what the appellate process is for.

10. we can't--- It was the "State" versus the "Accused"
we had no input---- But in their defense the state argued that the THC in his blood was irrelevant.Even the judge agreed with this, but said the law allowed the blood test to be allowed as evidence.

13. I'm curious how they knew that he had THC in his system
I perform autopsies for a (part-of my) living, including a good number of forensic autopsies (medical examiner). When we do blood toxicology tests, we only test for substances which can cause death. Since THC does not cause death, we do not test for it... period. This is purely a financial motivation; due to the large volume of testing that we do, cutting a THC test out of our standard testing keeps the costs down.

17. That is the worst thing Ive heard on this great day.
Hopefully some day intelligent people will rule this country (me) and there will be a major drug reform. THC doesnt impair your driving ability 1/1000000th as much as alcohol, but it is the evil weed. Damn you Harry Anslinger, damn you to hell. oh wait, hes already there.

What a stupid, stupid jury.

And I always take turtles as well as any other animal out of the road. And if I come across a hit pet type animal I always move them out off the road too. I'll always think of your brother when ever I do that even though I never knew him. It takes a caring person to make sure a turtle makes it across the road okay.
