DEA Raids Cannabis Clinic in San Francisco
Kimberlee Sakamoto 3/25/2009 11:00:29 PM

SAN FRANCICSO (KRON) – Officials with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) say they’ve confiscated bags of marijuana from Emmalyn’s California Cannabis Clinic in San Francisco.

Authorities tell KRON 4’s Terisa Estacio that around 4 p.m. Wednesday a dozen agents stormed into the clinic, located at 1591 Howard at 12th Street.

Just last week, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said federal agents would not go after marijuana distributors unless they violated both federal and state laws

In a statement, DEA Special Agent in Charge Anthony D. Williams said that based on an ongoing investigation they believe the clinic violated federal and state law.

As agents gathered items from Emmalyn’s, Terisa said a small crowd gathered in front and chanted for the DEA to go away.

4. they should charge them or return the bag
because the whole "ongoing investigation" thing, with no substantial charges, is BS.

5. "on going investigation" are the code words they will be using.
nothing will change because the feds will always find something to "investigate"

6. Isn't that special!
Gee, President Obama says the new rule of thumb will be that the DEA won't go after Medical Marijuana dispensaries unless they have broken 'federal and state laws'. After a short couple of weeks with no raids all of sudden the good old DEA comes up with one (right in the middle of good old liberal San Francisco) that they say has broken 'federal and state laws'. Of course, its all hush, hush and they can't really tell you what the charges are (they probably haven't figured out what they are yet or even what supposed laws were broken). If Obama and Holder are serious it wouldn't surprise me if somebody gets in trouble for this. It looks like people in the DEA don't like the new direction and are just going to use the 'broke federal and state laws' phrasing every time they want to make a raid. Otherwise everything will go on just like it did before.
