NM's Repub Gov candidate to repeal Medical Cannabis law |
|
The republican Governor candidate, District Attorney Susana Martinez, has vowed to repeal NM's Medical Cannabis law because it conflicts with federal law. She could have stood with NM veterans & other patients to fight against the federal law. This woman is a monster.

1. I am hoping she won't get elected, but sadly it's starting to look like she will |

I'm not an expert on our state's politics but I'm hoping she won't have enough support in the state legislature to repeal this. If anyone has more info I would appreciate it.

3. Sadly, too, I'm afraid you might be right |
|
I guess it will depend how many Republicans are elected to the Legislature. I try not to be afraid and feel hopeless (not just about NM, but the whole US & whole world), but it's a struggle.

We have so many synthetic drugs for anything and everything under the sun, yet a naturally occurring substance is banned, even for medicinal purposes? I see this trending the other way as Generation Y enters full adulthood.

YOur message was the ray of hope I needed. I was really feeling defeated myself. You are so right, just like the gay issue, I think the youth will drop the bigotry and ignorance.

5. There will be interesting bedfellows on this issue too |
|
With some right wingers and libertarians on the right side and many Dems not getting it -- just look at the California Democratic establishment, which seems to be cool to hostile on legalizing it. As budgets get tighter though, minds will be changed. I'd say public opinion on both marijuana and gay marriage will have shifted noticeably in 10-15 years.
