Canada to ban salvia divinorum (hallucinogenic herb)
Edited on Mon Feb-21-11 08:35 PM by alp227
The federal government confirmed Monday it hopes to make the use and sale of a popular hallucinogenic herb a criminal offence.

Conservative MP Shelly Glover announced the government's intentions to move the herb salvia divinorum into a category of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act at a press conference in Winnipeg.

(snip)

...more teens are abusing the herb, which creates safety risks including hallucinations, out of body experiences, lost of consciousness and memory loss, Glover said.

2. Ban any and all things seen to alter consciousness!
New Age nonsense! Spiritual experiences can only be had in church.

Prohibition is by far the most effective way to deal with these things. We must save people from their own iniquity.

It is completely arbitrary. The health excuse is a patent farce. They've gotten out of control with prohibitions. They will ban any unfamiliar thing that induces a change in consciousness, regardless of how benign it is.
