Nevada's embarrassment of a governor continues to embarrass himself by proposing gutting already funded public school districts further:
Sources confirm the governor will present a comprehensive and dramatic plan Wednesday that will remove the statutory requirements for collective bargaining, full-day kindergarten and class-size reduction while empowering local districts and instituting school vouchers. The plan also will totally restructure the state Board of Education and remove the 15 teacher-union-friendly words that prevent the state from receiving the Race to the Top federal funds.
Apparently this isn't The Onion talking.

Gov. Jim Gibbons today is expected to unveil a major education reform plan, after meeting with legislative leaders this afternoon. (Hat tip to Jon Ralston for first reporting parts of the plan last night.)
The plan is aimed at reducing public school funding, which Gibbons has already hinted he'll target for further cuts in a special session likely to be held next month.
Gibbons' deputy chief of staff Lynn Hettrick said today the public schools budget can't keep being protected at the expense of the rest of state government.
linkI doubt Gibbons is going to get all he wants or even anything he wants. He's a damned embarrassment.
