I have often posted while it is very easy for public school teachers to be fired despite the myths about "tenure," but that it is almost impossible to get rid of principals and administrators.

This case is one such example of "almost":

The principal of a popular Queens high school was fired Wednesday after he was accused of fondling and soliciting oral sex from several of his students.

Quintin Cedeno was yanked from the High School of Construction Trades, Engineering and Architecture after the disturbing allegations emerged.

A guidance counselor told investigators that a 15-year-old student accused Cedeno, 33, of asking him for oral sex.

In text messages, the principal allegedly propositioned the teen and reminded him that he'd bought him a T-Mobile Sidekick cell phone.

It's a rarity for principals to get the ax--it has to be truly egregious. Not so for teachers.

hey all...the reason he is a principal is due to Mayor Doomberg's and Crony Klein's LEADERSHIP ACADEMY...this sham of a program allows people with minimal time in the classroom to jump into positions of authority (some have not teaching experience)...the program turns out principals who are taught how to run a school as a business...it does not surprise me that he only started teaching in 2003...this kind of thing happens all the time under this administration...quality principals were once quality classroom teachers...i'm shocked Doomsberg and Crime allowed out at all

No this man did NOT sleep with anyone to get his job. Joel Klein created the "Leadership Academy". This program "trains" people(whether you have an educational background or not) how to be "administrators". The goal of every principal is to rid the school of veteran staff, overwhelm staff with unnecessary paperwork, give out U ratings often without justification, write up teachers on trivial things in order to build cases against them, ensure a low morale in the building to keep teachers leaving the system reducing labor costs, implement the WORST raeding, writing & math programs EVER. Since these "administrators" are completely inexperienced/incompotent, they are running our schools into the ground.

randomwatcher...that remark was with regard to this investigation...the parent with a student in that school stated that the principal was removed in the beginning of the school year...if he was just fired there would have had to be a thorough investigation...i am not a fan of Condon or his office...but they apparently did conduct a thorough investigation here...we'll find out though...and with regard to the special education impartial hearings...there is a ton of corruption in the NYC public school system...you don't have to look any further than the mayor and chancellor selling you inflated grades as a sign of improving our schools...your gripe seems to be with special education...fine...but that is just the tip of the iceberg
