KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A lively Kansas City, Mo., School Board meeting all centered around the debate about Superintendent John Covington's plan to close 26 schools.
Most of the board members had some questions or concerns, but typically about specific items. So it's not unlikely the plan could pass with some changes.
At least one board member seemed put off by the entire idea.
"I might consider taking my own child out," one board member said. There was an overflow crowd at the meeting. Some were upset Covington didn't consider funding alternatives when it came to the money motive behind the plan to close nearly half of the district's schools.
