(IN Gov.) Daniels: Give old school buildings to charters

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels today called for a law to force public school districts to transfer unused school buildings to charter school startups looking for space.

Daniels said school districts in the state are withholding completely empty buildings from charter schools that are looking for property. Doing so, he said, unnecessarily costs taxpayers money when those charters have to buy or build new schools instead of moving in to the empty ones. Taxpayers paid to build both the empty school and the new charter school.

"People say they should sell them," he said. "Sell them? Hell, they should give them away. The public already paid for them."

Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard said it's a problem in Indianapolis and that the charter schools he authorizes have been interested in purchasing buildings that are owned by school districts. He would prefer, though, that school districts be willing to sell or transfer the buildings without requiring the legislature to act.

Tony Bennett is a fucking mad man, hell bent on making public schools into charter schools. Its disgusting, I mean why would this be a good idea? Oh I know because Tony and his cronnies want to make a killing off of kids going to school. His decisions already have caused undue hardships on parents and teachers alike, cutting out half-days, making students stay in class all day even if they dont have a class, it is costing the schools even more money when the economy and health of the schools is so low. Why do you think IPS schools are shit? Because Ballard's dumbass doesnt know what his right arm is from his left arm. It is just sick. Daniels just this week set up a college by an executive order. If you didnt know he is on the board of directors for that string of colleges called Governors University or something like that. He abuses his power as governor to make himself even richer. That's illegal and unconstitutional in and of itself because of this law in the Indiana Constitution.

Section 13. Corporations, other than banking, shall not be created by special act, but may be formed under general laws.

That includes Private Colleges which his college is.

It is making me go crazy how corrupt our government is in Indiana from these right-wing Bush inherited fuckups.

3. Apparently

the Western Governors College is a public private school? which means it is allowed by law to be considered a public school and thus able to be legal..it is straight b.s. and just another loophole which unscrupulous bastards like Daniels can take a good thing such as a school and make it into a money shower for them while in office. It's just unbelievable, they say its a non-for profit college for adults over the internet and phone who can't go to a real college. From the reviews I read, the people say that there are no teachers, just mentors and usually the mentors do not help and just find ways to keep funneling money from you. Now that is what I call a great education.

And is it not funny that Daniels did not make this college until he was voted in as a member of the Board of Directors? He has had 6.5 years to do it and just now he is getting around to it? Something smells fishy to me.

This all stinks of major b.s., sorry for this rant. It just kills me how slimy these bastards are and how they can get away with it because of all the loopholes their sneaky ass lawyers can find.
