Bill Gates dumped hundreds into merit pay into Hillsborough Co. FL School District, but now.....

the Hillsborough Co superintendent, as well as the superintendents of other counties, question the accuracy of the FCAT scores which would help determine teacher pay. How can we have confidence in a merit pay system if we don't have confidence the test scores are right?

I'd love to hear the reaction of Gates to this. And yet he, Barack Obama, and MANY others want expanded testing.

1. Of course there are questions about the tests. Any tests and any scores.

The whole thing started with baby Bush and how he had kicked butt in Texas with raising scores. No one exposed all the abuses in the Texas test system---some school districts had 50% absenteeism on test days just to get scores up. Glad I decided to get out of teaching. It is just a pipe dream to get tests that will really measure learning and the value of what is learned.
