Chicago's Huberman (ceo public schools) purging actual educators from administration
http://www.substancenews.net/articles.php?page=1592§ion=Article

these guys do things i wouldn't even think of.

it's hard to outthink evil people because to them, the possibilities are endless.

to ordinary people, some things are out of bounds.

1. iow- huberman is cleaning house of all the losers at central
who think that their letters after their name make them right all the time. most of them are teachers that got sent to central because it was the only way to get them out of the classroom.
it is about time someone brought a big ax to that graveyard of unremovable recalcitrant whiners.

sorry, i love good teachers, have several in my family, have met a jillion that i love. my kids had a lot of great teachers. but just like every other profession there are losers that are not only incompetent but are just poisonous to institutions. and those are the ones that fight like maniacs when you try to get rid of them. so, here we send them downtown.
good for ron.

3. None of what you claim (which I doubt) justifies replacing these people with non educators

4. does every single person in the entire organization have to
be a veteran of the classroom, then?
this is part of what has caused the system to be so bloated. teacher who were rotten teachers, usually meaning that they were either stupid, lazy or mean, gets put in a position to oversee contracts that have nothing to do with education. building management, food service, etc, etc, being administered by someone who is there because someone was too lazy to go through the process of firing them. there is just no reason you have to have someone with teachers credentials shuffling papers

this is no disparagement on the thousands of great hardworking teachers in the cps system. they do an amazing job in a lot of horrendous situations. but downtown is clogged with these clowns and i am thrilled that huberman is getting rid of them. and hiring people with actual management training, i hope.

5. This kind of statement from a Mod???
I suppose you know the history of the people being cut and whether or not they are competent. I'm a private sector guy and many times firings have nothing to do with actual competence. It's because someone isn't enthusiastic about playing a silly management game du jour. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these people are let go because they refuse to adhere to some private sector agenda toward education.

6. mods are allowed to have opinions.
there is nothing in my posts that violates any rules.
i have this opinion because i have 5 kids who have all spent at least some time in the chicago public schools. i have been a very active parent, and have made some dear friends among the teaching staffs. almost all decry the stupidity of the downtown overlords, as well as getting pretty much the same deal, money and other recognition-wise, as people that are stealing their paychecks each and every day.
school systems are pretty much like any other workplace- filled with naked apes doing their best to find their place in the hierarchy of things. who succeeds and who fails has little to do with how things would work in a perfect world.
