Ravitch and Moskowitz Square Off - Sort Of
I attended The Economist Ideas Economy: Human Potential event at Chelsea Piers on September 16, 2010, t he second day of a 2-day forum. There were some top level panels and speakers and attendees. The event cost $1500 to attend. I was able to attend as press thanks to Diane Ravitch who was on stage for a pre-lunch 20 minute session with Eva Moskowitz for a mini debate on school reform.

I had some transportation delays and another short delay getting credentials, so I missed the first few minutes - I'm claiming they started early. But I caught the last section when I finally found the auditorium.

Luckily, afterwards, Diane Ravitch was gracious enough to give me a few minutes for an exclusive interview for the film I am doing with the Grassroots Education Movement (GEMNYC) - "The Truth Behind Waiting for Superman."

Then to my surprise, Eva Moskowitz came over to introduce herself (she said her husband reads Ed Notes) and I took the opportunity to ask her about the film (and also gave her the GEM newsletter which gave her a coal for ed deform - Karen Lewis, Chicago Teachers Union President got the GEM diamond.) Moskowitz, considering the beating Ed Notes has consistently given her, was also gracious and we had a nice chat after I stopped filming over some educational issues. If there was more time and she was willing I think we could have had a rousing discussion that would have been worth filming but I told her it was all off the record.
