2. That is the Bill Gates county...gave them 100 million to do things his way.
Like merit pay, etc.

In the media the county only gets praise. In real life some very good teachers are disgusted.

3. "We must professionalize the profession."
How condescending of you, Arne. Does he realize that his actions are serving to deskill the profession?

6. you ARE professionals,
but you're rarely treated like one.

I believe THAT is what Arne is saying. It's time you treated like and paid like PROFESSIONALS. Try listening without the bias.

5. It's kind of hypocritical, because *he's* certainly not a professional educator.
Maybe he's just jealous, because deep down he knows that just about every teacher in America is more of a professional educator than he is.

7. "We have to listen to teachers,
we have to empower them", Arne Duncan.

I don't think any of us has done a good enough job of listening to them and responding to what they want. They want to be heard, they want to be treated as professionals..."
