Woody Allen, Sleeper, and the education "reform" movement.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lmQbHg0h3g&feature=related

This came to me in a dream.... or perhaps a hallucination.... last nite. Sometime before I went to bed I read ( probably here) that Mr. Duncan was interjecting himself into the latest NYC test score debacle.
*
I actually laughed out loud. At a certain point it just gets so...... g.d. *ridiculous*. ( I do understand that, since I'm near retirement , I can *afford* to laugh. The rest of you don't have the luxury.)

Anyhooo .... the "cloning" scene from Sleeper came to mind.

It's a great segment from a great movie..... but hang on til the end for the clincher:

Diane: (to the assembled panel of MDs and political mukketies): " I believe this is going to be a very difficult croning procedure."

Woody: ( under his breath) "That's *cloning*, you idiot."

Any resemblance to any two elected or appointed federal officials who have been consistently accused by me ... and others... of lacking the requisite background and experience to undertake so serious a task as national "education reform" is... I regret to say..... unavoidable.

In other words: don't blame me; blame Woody.

4. Listen ... does he know anything about public schools?
Edited on Mon Oct-25-10 12:24 AM by Smarmie Doofus
The current Ed Secretary has been accused of being... shall we say... remote from the situation. "Unfamiliar with the particulars", if you will.

So... I'm heading up a talent hunt for someone more qualified ... should Mr. Obama find himself reelected.

Did Mr. Hobbs attend a public school.... teach in one... have a kid in one.... walk on the same side of the street as one?

We're getting desperate here. Maybe his *maid* attend public school? Accountant? Barber?

That's quite a resume; anything associated with education? Blackboard Jungle ? Up the Down Staircase? Goodbye Mr. Chips? Seven Brides for Seven Teachers?

Anything at all?

Help me out here.
