Do private school students have to take all of these state standardized tests?
Is that a condition for accreditation or tax-exempt status?

1. Well, they have to perform all state-mandated health screenings.
I suspect there is some level of academic testing that must be applied.

2. There may be some leeway
When I was in HS in the 70s my high school which wAs public but not under the NYC board of education made up its own regentsd exams cause they didn't think the regular ones were hard enough. Don't know if they Still do this.

3. At my daughter's HS which was private, they took them, even though they didn't have to.......
Just to show the difference in test results.

5. No, but some administer a battery of norm-referenced tests.
And they all administer the ACT or SAT, PLAN, PLACE and other college entry tests.

7. It should be required
otherwise the diploma mills would churn out HS grads for a price.

8. They do in Ohio.
That's where I taught in Catholic schools the longest. Students have to pass the 9th grade proficiency to earn a high school diploma--it doesn't matter where that diploma's from.

In Michigan where I am now, everyone has to take the MME their junior year and the MEAPs the rest of the time, and the Catholic schools here do all of that, too. From what I was told, it was required.
