More LAUSD Lockdown Madness
Either LA is the most dangerous city in the U.S. or they’re just plain lockdown crazy. I’ll put my money on the latter.

South Gate High was the latest school to be placed on “precautionary” lockdown, and it wasn’t even during school hours. Reports of a male with a gun led LAUSD to lock down around 200 students, along with teachers and administrators, from 3:30 until 6:30 on Friday.

Three suspects were eventually arrested, but no weapons were found. The “precautionary” nature of the lockdown confirms my suspicions that the lockdowns are being used as social control to simplify the jobs of cops, at the expense of children's liberty and dignity. Anyone can call in a phony police report of armed men which, under the current system, would result in children being held prisoners in their classrooms without food, water or toilets (other than the district provided shit buckets) for hours.

This brings the total to over ten LA schools locked down for three or more hours each in just the past two weeks. Police still have not apprehended a suspect in the shooting of a school cop outside El Camino Real High School last week. The LA City Council and others have put up a $100,000 reward.

1. In my opinion, reports of a man with a gun SHOULD result
in a lockdown. Where do you find a problem with that? While anyone can call in a phony report, there are real situations in that area with people with guns posing a threat. It was just for three hours, not a week.

2. I agree with you
We're obligated to keep the kids safe at school. This is a no-brainer. :)

3. I'm not sure how a school would NOT report such a thing
and lock the school down. The safety of the students is the first priority in such cases. A very strange OP, I think.
