California’s Education Hall of Shame
California is quickly becoming the new front line in corporate Ed Deform. Many of the usual suspects have quietly begun to focus their efforts on State-wide and local efforts in California, while several lesser known accomplices have joined their ranks. They are ponying up to buy elections, counter the unions' lobbying and campaign contributions, fund charter schools, and destroy tenure and pensions.

Here is just a partial list http://modeducation.blogspot.com/2011/02/californias-education-hall-of-shame.html

1. Yep, it's all about the money.
That's why South Central L.A. kids are staying in Locke High School - since Locke became a charter, they have a chance at a decent education and a career.

And CA teachers are fighting charters every step of the way, because they have some fancy buildings to pay for. Like the $266-million CA Teachers Pension Fund Headquarters.

“Students and families vote with their feet. The fact that more families are choosing to enroll their kids at Locke High School and students are staying, means we have positively impacted the school,” said Chief Academic Office Cristina de Jesus."
