Lots of talk on Facebook from delegates in Chicago.

5. lol
That may be close to the truth. Rod Paige called us that. Arne just talks about us in a condescending way.

10. Or child molesters
Michelle Rhee laid off a couple hundred teachers and claimed they were child molesters.

11. It's more about when than who
Withholding the vote would give the NEA leverage.

4. So, does that mean that the delegates are voting to support
that endorsement? That's what I assume. If so, were they not elected locally by the teachers and other members of the NEA? It's confusing, you know. Is the majority of the rank and file of the NEA in support of President Obama? That's what it sounds like. What about the other teacher's organizations. Will they be doing the same, do you think? Is the majority of the rank and file just mislead? Do they not know what they are doing?

Very interesting, it seems to me.

8. You know, I think I'm going to look at the results of the vote.
From my experience, teachers are well-educated people, capable of thinking and voting for themselves. I assume that local groups send very qualified delegates to these conventions. So, if you don't mind, I'll let the people who are voting make the decision. Unions are, after all, the core of democratic activity. Rhetoric is rhetoric, and votes are votes. I will trust the teachers to decide who they want to endorse. I'll give them the credit for knowing what they want.

Are you a teacher? If so, are you part of that union? How did the election go to choose the delegates?

9. I'm not sure how NEA votes. But AFT votes as a block - each delegation.
So my YES vote doesn't count if my delegation votes majority NO.

So the results may not reflect the wishes of the delegation as a whole. But as I said I'm not sure how they vote.

They don't sound happy with the union leader.

15. That's almost three times the opposition that prior Democratic candidates have received.
Many of us think that the union should withold it's support at this point, so this is higher than we might like, but it's no badge of honor for the President.

Many of even those 72% could only vote with one hand, as the other was busy holding their collective nose.

13. In the end it really doesn't matter what the NEA does.
What matters is how individual teachers decide to vote.
