4. Why not? Seen PLENTY of high scorers on both not amount to much in my classes.

Only fools believe that a single high-stakes, multiple choice test can be used as a complete inventory of ability and potential.

5. The problem with this:
In many states, test scores are tied to graduation or promotion. So the kids would be punishing themselves.

And the schools could suffer. If all the kids don't take the test, the school doesn't make AYP.

I hate these tests as much as anyone but opting out doesn't appear to be the best strategy, IMO. We need to have legislation that allows opting out.

Who cares about AYP.

Civil disobedience can only work, of course, if enough join in. And if enough do join in, AYP becomes meaningless.
