I don't spend a lot of time in glbt, so could someone educate me?

Is this a forum intended to SUPPORT glbt rights, or just discuss them? I find the number of anti-gay posts here really disturbing.

And yes, I consider "get over it" posts to be anti-gay.

6. They do need to be. This is not a "safe haven" right now,

when glbt people most need it. Getting kicked in the teeth by the PE really hurts. There should be a safe place to deal with that pain.

16. Never been there, but from what I hear read so far in this thread,

it sounds like some house cleaning need to be done. Considering what the purpose of this site is supposed to be, anyone who attacks or says something as cold and insensitive as get over it needs to be permanently banned. Bigots should NOT be welcome at DU.

I welcome all posters here - whether they identify as GLBTQ or not - but it's become very discouraging to read so many bigoted, nasty posts against GLBTQ people posted here.

I don't understand why these posts are allowed anywhere on DU. They break DU rules. But why are they allowed, in particular, in this forum? I have no idea.
