I'm so sorry to see what I've been reading here on DU. You may think, judging by my user name, that I may not have always supported GLBT civil rights. But that is not the case. In fact GLBT rights are a big reason why I realized I never really was a republican.
I have my own causes that directly effect my life, that people try to minimize, and it hurts, a lot. I'll be damned if I am ever the one doing the minimizing. I keep reading how "we have to get things done, GLBT rights are not a priority because of (insert something here)". There will always be "something" that is more important to one person or another, to be upset over Obama's choice is not to minimize all those other important issues. I have no doubt that many on this board will continue to work towards progressive causes regardless of who Obama has praying. I'll be right along with you all working to change many things, and still be pissed over this. Obama isn't the change coming, we are, as long as we are united. To ask you all to shut up is not going to unite us all.
Never shut up. This country has left your community out in the cold for much too long.
Peace.
