I don't think some people get how much of a powder keg the LGBT community is right now. Hate crimes have gone up 24% and are expected to rise. There was prop 8 and arkansas, the guy that was brutalized by police recently, the list goes on.

People would be wise to remember that our movement was catalyzed by a riot. If things don't start changing quickly, I think they may be reminded. I think Obama may get it, and has plans to do something right away on taking office, (in fact I know in his cabinet appointments we've already seen it). Still, if some things don't happen quickly or, if something particularly egregious happens before he has time to do something big...
