I live in NY and even though it's not the city, I'm not far and many of my friends, tenants, and clients are openly gay. My best friend is in a committed lesbian relationship but they are deep in the closet because of work issues and that is heartbreaking. This is a civil rights issue and having that bigot speak is wrong, wrong, wrong. I've donated to HRC for years but I'm ordering a bumber sticker and sign for my business window. Advertising in LGBT publications and supporting events is not enough. Warren wants anyone not on his straight and narrow path eliminated. That is not acceptable and and everyone needs to stand up say so. You have every right to your anger.

I expected Obama to disappoint me despite my enthusiastic support and I told my conservative friends that I thought I'd be more disappointed by his actions than they. Telecom amnesty, Vilsack and now Warren and he's got the trifecta. But progressives are supposed to be the ones holding his feet to the fire and to defend his actions is just wrong.

There are many people on DU that are following this that may not have been center stage in the threads - but they've gotten an education and a wake-up call. There is no excuse for having that man speak any words on that platform on inauguration day. I'm supposed to go and I have very mixed feelings about it now - the event has been very tarnished by this.
