I just moved here this week for a new job. I couldn't have voted on prop 8 when I was in Ohio, but look out, I"m joining you guys now in support.

btw, last week, in palm springs/palm desert, I saw a small gathering of GLBT folk protesting prop 8 of of highway 111. I honked and waved...I wonder if any of them were DUers?

there is one other DUr in PD and one in the high desert. They were roundly mocked on the evening news

4. yeah, I caught the news coverage at my hotel -- it was very condescending

I remember being a little mad about it, especially since I was one of the people that honked. I almost stopped and said hello but I had to go meet some of the people I was going to start working with, and didn't want to be late.
I remember thinking " I bet at least one of them was a DUer".

3. I love the weather but feel really guilty

my wife and son are back home freezing right now and I'm having to run the air conditioner in my car.

Theyre waiting until our old house sells before we can be reunited here.


I've lived in LA before, but never been here in Palm Desert. I kinda like the area so far, though they tell me its beastly hot in the summer.

to be honest, the new job is a little stressful. its my first week and I've been putting in long hours as well as watching two people leave or get fed up and quit.
It makes me a little nervous about stability.
But hey, I was laid off anyways, so its a job. If I can stick it out, all the better.

having been married for 20 years, its kinda hard to be apart from them. oh well, enough of me whining.

to you, anyway and hang on to that job for as long as you can. It's better than nothing, right now. Maybe, when the economy gets better
you can find something better. They just had a big lay-off at BCBS. I don't know how much more Michigan can take. I'm beginning to face that I may have to move, too, if I don't get back in the workforce by August. Again, Congrats!
