XM subscribers - - email XM to get Sirius OutQ on the XM lineup
Now that the merger is complete, they are moving programming across both platforms.
Most genres are covered, but XM *still* has no GLBT channel. And OutQ is worth asking for if for nothing but Signorile and Derek and Romaine.

Go to www.xmradio.com and click "email us" at the bottom of the page.

Let's let them know we are out there.

Thanks in advance.

3. True, but hows about moving Larry "The Universe is about me" Flick
to his own little world.... Keith is a dear. Larry? Not so much.

And Frank rules! :)

5. I love Signorile's political and social commentary ...
and I'm straight (an ardent supporter of the GLBTQ community, though, and proud PFLAGer).

I'm a Sirius subscriber - but perhaps I could write some kind of email anyway.

6. Whoa, you are right! For some reason I thought XM did have a GLBT channel but they
don't.

I will definitelly write an email to them immediately. I'm also going to complain about ReachMD not being on Sirius, which it deserves to be.

Thanks for pointing this out. I love Sat Radio and want neither station to fail or lose listeners.

8. They have "The Agenda with Joe Solmonese" - the chairman of HRC
closest to full-fledged channel

7. My letter
Edited on Sat Jan-24-09 06:01 PM by Mike 03
XM Radio:

I have been an enthusiastic subscriber to XM for three years and am an avid, vocal and enthusiastic fan of both XM and SIRIUS.

A couple of weeks ago I wrote directly to ReachMD to ask why they had not been added to the Sirius lineup; they would be an enormous and positive addition to Sirius, as “Doctor Radio” is adequate but not even close in tone to the quality of content exhibited by ReachMD.

It is also a mystery to me why XM has not yet begun to run the Gay Lesbian channel over at Sirius. XM has “The Power” for African Americans (which is a tremendous station, I might add). Isn’t it time to begin to acknowledge that Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender folks are a HUGE part of our world now and deserve some place to air their feelings, concerns and opinions, just like every other “minority” that prefers a channel geared towards their specific and particular needs?

I think it would be a great idea for XM to either create or add a channel that meets the needs and wishes of Gay and Lesbian people, just as they have wonderful specialized channels to meet the needs of medical professionals, African Americans, and many other specialized groups.

Thank you for reading my concerns, and I do Love XM!

ON EDIT:

I should have said "Even hockey fanatics have TWO channels to yak to each other on; why does the GLBT merit no airtime whatsoever?"

Can you believe that, though? Two stations for hockey fanatics? Even a NASCAR channel. Not one place for people with other sexual orientations--what is that, ten percent of the population versus how many hockey fans?

Best,

10. WOOHOO!!!!
This is great news. Thanks to all who contacted them. I don't know if we had an impact on the decision or not, but am VERY glad to hear this news.

Derek and Romaine on my drive home. I may take the long way.

11. Still Not on XM Online
Although labeled "OutQ Radio", on XMOnline it is actually Ngoma:The Sounds of AFrica and it still is in the Latin & the World section. Hopefully, they will fix this soon.

Similar to The Strobe being labeled "Cinemagic" in the Jazz section on Sirus Online for a long time before they fixed it and it still is labeled that way on my Sirius radio. However, those were just labeling issues. In this case, we're getting the wrong audio. Actually, since Ngoma is an online only station, I don't see why that should have to go away in order for OutQ to be added.
