XM Radio:
I have been an enthusiastic subscriber to XM for three years and am an avid, vocal and enthusiastic fan of both XM and SIRIUS.
A couple of weeks ago I wrote directly to ReachMD to ask why they had not been added to the Sirius lineup; they would be an enormous and positive addition to Sirius, as “Doctor Radio” is adequate but not even close in tone to the quality of content exhibited by ReachMD.
It is also a mystery to me why XM has not yet begun to run the Gay Lesbian channel over at Sirius. XM has “The Power” for African Americans (which is a tremendous station, I might add). Isn’t it time to begin to acknowledge that Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender folks are a HUGE part of our world now and deserve some place to air their feelings, concerns and opinions, just like every other “minority” that prefers a channel geared towards their specific and particular needs?
I think it would be a great idea for XM to either create or add a channel that meets the needs and wishes of Gay and Lesbian people, just as they have wonderful specialized channels to meet the needs of medical professionals, African Americans, and many other specialized groups.
Thank you for reading my concerns, and I do Love XM!
ON EDIT:
I should have said "Even hockey fanatics have TWO channels to yak to each other on; why does the GLBT merit no airtime whatsoever?"
Can you believe that, though? Two stations for hockey fanatics? Even a NASCAR channel. Not one place for people with other sexual orientations--what is that, ten percent of the population versus how many hockey fans?
Best,
