All My Children Features First Lesbian Wedding on Daytime TV
Marriage equality will be introduced into approx. two million households on Valentine’s week, when All My Children features the first same-sex marriage on daytime TV.

From OUT.com:
On February 13 and 16, All My Children’s gay super couple, Reese and Bianca will tie the lesbian knot. It’s a historic milestone for daytime TV as no other gay soap couple has ever walked down the aisle — until now. The story is already getting major coverage and snagged the coveted cover of Soap Opera Digest. SOD’s editorial director Lynn Leahey tells Out.com, “When we learned about the upcoming wedding, of course we wanted to feature it on our cover. It’s a big moment for All My Children and a milestone for daytime.”

1. Yes. Bianca is Erica Kane's daughter.
The audience saw her born.

16. I'm pretty sure Susan Lucci is a Republican though
I hope the gay storyline is driving her up the wall! She's always free to quit.

2. It was a beautiful ceremony
All My children and As the World Turns have been telling wonderful stories about their gay and lesbian characters. Of course they are the only 2 shows on daytime doing this, though.

5. Guiding Light has come close, but didn't go
any further because it wouldn't have been right for the characters, two women that have been in previous heterosexual relationships that are roommates. They help one another out like spouses do, and depend on one another like sisters. The lesbian part of the storyline came up because the daughter of one of them wrote an essay on "My Two Mommies" for an assignment about writing about your family, so it started townspeoples' tongues wagging. They've handled it pretty well, considering they couldn't afford to hire two new characters for the show to play lesbians.

Over time, we'll see more GLBT characters.

4. I remember watching AMC WAAAAAAY back . . .
. . . when Tara was married to some guy who didn't come back from the war, and she went and married somebody else, then he came back and TADA! There was Erica all ready to go.

She was so evil then, but she always thought everything she did was totally justified.

8. Snicker. I have not doubt.
Whippersnapper.

It just goes to show you how long Erica's been on that show. I remember her mother was this somewhat saintly woman who just couldn't convice Erica that anything she did was wrong. She could always justify it with a big red bow! It was a phenomenon. There was no villain like her.

6. Yeah they get married after Reese makes out with a man (Zack)
Why do they have to always do this? Lets make the lesbian swoon by the big powerful man (although Reese was in a relationship with a man before she met Bianca its still nauseating).

I watched AMC every day until a couple months ago. They need desperately to get rid of Ryan (monkey boy cant act) and Kendall and bring back the original Babe. The show has sucked for years now and I dont see the writing or the acting getting better anytime soon unfortunately. Oh and now that they have killed Greenly off as of today there really is no point in watching until Anne gets out of the crazy house.

14. i hate the Ryan character
he really ruins the show for me. the only time he was good was early on when he was with jillian and people said that was because of the actress that played jillian .

11. unfortunately over the next few days (spoiler)
comes the first lesbian annulment, according to soad opera digest. Apparently Ryan tells everyone that Zach and Reese slept together and Binx asks for the annullment and takes the kids back to Paris. Reese wants to sue for partial custody, since Binx wants full custody. AMC couldn't just give us the wedding and a happy marriage for more than about an hr.
While I'm glad for the milestone, I wish if there was another person involved, it was a woman and not the male fantasy of a man.

12. This was not the first lesbian story line for AMC
Donna Pescow was cast in a groundbreaking role of Dr. Lynn Carson on the soap opera All My Children, which she portrayed from 1982 to 1983. Her character was the first lesbian on the daytime serials.

They've had other characters through the years that were gay, Chris Bruno who played Michael Delaney from 195-1997 was one of them.

As for the kiss, it's a soap, almost no one every goes through an uncomplicated storyline.

And the Greenlee character.............all I can say is, it's about time. She's a rich bitch who thinks the world revolves around her. I couldn't find any redeeming value to the character.

By the way, Susan Lucci has been with the show since day one, that's 40 years at one job.

15. Obligatory snarky comment...

... soap operas still exist?

But to be serious, what a wonderful milestone if only because it's been deemed 'normal' enough for a series whose demographic (I think?) is still the soccer-mom suburban type. If it's okay to be gay for them, isn't the rest of America not far behind?

*hopes*

edited for grammar mistake.
