Please sign this Equality Petition

Equality Petition

With your help, this petition will be the largest show of support for equal marriage rights in Massachusetts yet assembled.

MassEquality is gathering this petition to present to legislators who will soon consider a proposed constitutional amendment that would take away equal marriage rights. If legislators vote the way they did last year, equal marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples will be put up for a popular vote.

The Freedom to Marry Coalition, along with our MassEquality
coalition partners, will deliver the Petition to legislators
before the constitutional convention at which the Massachusetts
legislature will consider an amendment to take away the right of
same-sex couples to legally marry.

Forward this email to your friends and family, co-workers and
neighbors to let them know that you support marriage equality
and provide them an opportunity to show their support as well.
All signers can have their name and town appear on the web site
as a signer of the Petition.

It's imperative that we show legislators and the public that
support for marriage equality is a community standard. The irony
is that although polls are increasingly showing support for
marriage equality, people remain unwilling to express their
support because the issue remains controversial. We will be
successful in our bid to preserve equal marriage rights only if
we talk about the issue with everyone we know and ask them, too,
to talk about this important human rights issue.

So, please sign the Petition today and ask as your friends and
family to do the same. And talk about marriage equality whenever
you have the chance. Gay or straight, we all have personal
stories to tell about why we believe in preserving the freedom
to marry.

For all you do in support of marriage equality, thank you.
