A monger is one who profits by selling something, usually applied to those who sell seafoods. She takes money to oppose equal rights for a group of people. She sells opposition to civil rights for profit. No term fits her better. Maybe prejudice promoter, or bigotry's press agent?

She was a bigot at the time of her answer at the pageant. Upon agreement to take money to promote opposing equal rights for all, she became something much worse. Personally, I think "hatemonger" is being very, very kind.

The distinction is that Prejean is being paid to appear in homophobic commercials. Obama has made homophobic/bigoted statements to the media after being pressured to answer specific questions about gay marriage. A world of difference. And I am no longer any great Obama fan.

And in particular,her role as hate monger is specifically different from Obama's positions. The group she now represents opposes all forms of legal rights for GLBT people, including civil unions, and workplace protections. President Obama opposes her on all of that.
Also, in terms of the word 'monger' Obama is not taking payment to represent a position publically against equality, and while he did so poorly, he did in fact oppose Prop 8, which Carrie Silicon is all about keeping in place.
Why would you try to imply that Obama agrees with her when he does not?

I don't have a problem with people believing gays shouldn't be married, as a matter of their personal faith and beliefs. Just so long as they are willing to also say they don't believe that any one person's faith should interfere with the choices and rights of gay people.

See, if she wakes up gay some day, she should still have the choice to follow her NEW faith and beliefs. We however, will still be Americans with fewer rights, regardless of what she believes in that day or any other.

If Miss California's parents had never contractually wished away "teh gay" by entering a false marriage, perhaps they never would have instilled a fear and shame in their daughter. Maybe then she would have grown to be an enlightened caring and loving individual instead of the hate monger she is.
