Canada Receives Kudos On Gay Marriage
http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/06/062905canFolo.htm

From New York to Washington to Australia LGBT civil rights groups are hailing the Canadian government for passing same-sex marriage legislation.

The House of Commons passed the long awaited same-sex marriage bill Tuesday night (story) It is expected to pass the senate and be signed into law by the end of July.

"At a time when the United States is talking boldly about spreading freedom to all people everywhere, we should look to our neighbor to the north to see what freedom really means," said Alan Van Capelle, the Executive Director of Empire State Pride Agenda/

3. Canada, just north of USA, is more progressive . . .

We share a lengthy geographic border with Canada, just north of USA. But yet little commonality in progressive law. Sad, indeed.

Canada has stepped firmly into the 21st century. Hats off to Canada!

One note of caution, same-sex marriage across all of Canada does not become legal until further action is taken in Canada's senate and receives Royal Assent. However, this further action is expected to occur swiftly.

4. Great cartoon!

Kind of strikes home for me since my Dad (Jewish) married my Mom (Japanese-American) back in 1941; they had to move to Chicago to do it since White/Asian marriages were banned under California law.

Apparently William Randolph Hearst and the Loyal Sons of the Golden State got the so-call Yellow Peril Lawspassed by thumping the tub about the dangers of biracial offspring--such as me! It tickles me pink to think that I'm the old bastard's worst nightmare!

5. Diversity and immigration is at the heart of America . . .

Diversity and immigration and inclusivity is at the heart of America . . . not Republican Party exclusivity and divisiveness of today!

And, thanks for the cartoon kudos. :toast:
