Georgia man executed in gay mutilation slaying
http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/07/071305execution.htm

(Atlanta, Georgia) A Georgia man who stabbed his lover to death with a screwdriver, then dismembered his body - putting some parts down a garbage disposal - was put to death Tuesday night.

<snip>

He said that on the night of the murder, he told Crooks that he wanted to end their relationship. He said Crooks was sitting on his stomach on a bed in Conklin's Atlanta apartment, and he tried to push Crooks off, but couldn't.

An instruction manual was later recovered from Conklin's apartment describing how to slaughter animals in the same manner that Conklin admitted having disposed of Crooks' body.

Prosecutors argued that the manual and other evidence disproved Conklin's claim that the murder was not planned.

1. And So Actual Punishment Has Been Replaced With Revenge...
... and the punishment ends. Dead men don't care that they are dead. You can't punish the dead.

It seems more logical that the best way to punish Conklin would be to CONTINUE to punish him in prison for the REST of his life. NOT by shortening his life.

Sigh.

2. I would disagree...
Whenever I read stories like this, I think if my partner (or whoever) ever did something like that to me, I'd want the same exact thing done to him. I wouldn't want him being able to plea bargain or get out for "good behavior." If he's proven without a doubt he did that to me, I say let the punishment fit the crime.

3. So You Want Revenge.
Revenge is not punishment. Dead people don't care that they are dead.

And even if one believes in an afterlife... then the murderer need only "accept-Jesus-Christ-as-his-personal-lord-and-savior" and he's gets to enter Heaven. Who wouldn't prefer Heaven to a jail-cell?

4. is this really gay?
other then the fact the participants wer egay?

I mean, if the murderer was straight and he had done this to his wife, would this be a hetersexual mutilation slaying?

Other then that, I stil am not for the death penalty...becuase I haven't seen evidence that it actually stops crime.

5. I was curious when I saw this post
Death sentence in GA for killing a gay man? then I saw the killer was gay too. Otherwise you would see no death penalty.
