New Twist In 'Gay Chat Mayor' Scandal

Spokane City Attorney Mike Connelly, who appointed the panel investigating whether Mayor Jim West violated any city policies in a sex scandal, has announced he is resigning to take a similar position with the city of Spokane Valley.

Connelly said the new position would be a challenge, but less stressful.

KREM-TV reported that Connelly made no reference to the ongoing investigation into the activities of West, who has been accused of abusing his office by offering jobs to young men he met in gay Internet chat rooms.
