2 More Anti-Gay Calif. Initiatives Move Forward

California Attorney General Bill Lockyer on Wednesday approved the wording on two more proposed amendments to the state constitution to bar same-sex marriage and deny domestic partner rights.

That brings to three the number of amendments conservative groups are trying to get on the June 2006 ballot.

On Monday the Attorney General's office approved the first measure. But, even so the groups behind it are taking Lockyer to court, accusing him of amending the title to make it confusing to voters. (story)

The wording can be very confusing so as to trip people up and into voting the opposite of how they mean.

Why is no one on our side getting amendments put on the ballot in support of gay rights? It seems like we are always reacting, on the defensive, instead of being proactive and getting OUR voters to the polls.

It is WHY WE don't put on a few nice little amendment proposals of our own, creatively wording them to deny these crazies something they value.

Or why don't WE get a ballot initiative approved that will abruptly change the marriage and divorce laws and make the wingnuts have to keep their own word before God and country for a change?
