The Rev. Dexter Brecht is packing up the hymn books and all the other belongings of the Metropolitan Community Church of Greater New Orleans after the church was told its lease at the Project Lazarus complex was being terminated after just three months.

Project Lazarus is a multi building facility for people living with HIV/AIDS and includes a hospice.

The church, and its 45 members, lost their old facility at St. Mark's Methodist Church this spring when the congregation determined it needed its church full time.

After all, if homosexuality is God-given genetics, then what?

This is the political and moral argument that Martin Luther King, Jr. espoused, quite successfully, about America's "African-Americans!" King said that if the color of one's skin was pre-determined genetically then it was derived from God. Who, then, should or could deny God's choice of skin color?

As for Galileo, that poor old man suffered greatly for espousing honesty and factual science! It wasn't until approximately 400 years later that the Holy See retracted its brand of heretic from his soul. However, it never fully and completely apologized for its wrongdoing in incarcerating Galileo in "house arrest" for the remainder of his life or for labeling Galileo as a heretic! How stupid can it get? Truth be told, the Holy Roman Catholic Church stands firmly in its belief that the sun still revolves around it, and it alone! eh.
