Musgrave Puts 'Hold' On Anti-Gay Federal Marriage Amendment

Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R-Colorado) has put her measure banning gay marriage on hold as she launches her battle for re-election, waiting to see what voters and the courts think about the proposed constitutional amendment before she takes any further action.

Musgrave was the sponsor in the House last year of the Federal Marriage Amendment. It failed to get enough votes in July 2004 (story) and was reintroduced this year. (story)

The two-term Republican congresswoman has new worries after GOP leaders rated her as one of the 10 most vulnerable Republicans in the country, even though she represents a heavily Republican district.

5. I wonder if she isn't feeling some heat

from constituents who are fed up with her spending so much time pandering to the religious loonies in Colorado Springs and would like her to do something FOR her district.

Although Colorado is a pretty conservative state, I think the Republicans have been taking hits there the last couple of years. When Salazar won the senate seat, I was surprised - especially when he hasn't been afraid to stand up to the Focus on the Family people who think they are appointed to operate the government.

Musgrave needs her butt kicked to the curb anyway - she's a hateful, deceitful whiny wingnut. I remember her appealing on every religious Right website begging for money to win the last election, screaming that the gays were trying to take her seat. Next year maybe the whole district will wake up to this clown.
